Perast: frequently asked questions

Is this the official website of Perast?

No. Kotor Visit is an independent visitor guide. It is not the official website of Perast, of the museum or of the church on the islet, and it is not run by them. Official prices come from the sources named on each page, with the date we read them. Tours sold by our booking partners are sold by those third parties, and some links are affiliate links.

How do I get to the islets, and how much is the boat?

Boats leave from the Perast quay and the crossing is short. We found no official operator, fare or timetable, so we cannot quote a price. Ask on the quay what the fare includes. Our suggestion, not an official rule: check that the boat is registered and ask for a ticket. Boat trips from Kotor that stop at Our Lady of the Rocks are sold by our booking partners.

Can I visit the islet of St George?

It is a natural islet with a 12th-century church and a cemetery. Whether visitors can land is not confirmed, so ask on the quay.

What are the Perast Town Museum’s hours and price?

Admission is €8. It is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 16:00 from 15 October to 15 April and 8:00 to 20:00 from 15 April to 15 October. Closed every Monday, all of January, 1 May, 13 and 14 November and Orthodox Easter. Prices from Museums Kotor, read on 23 October 2026.

What is the Fašinada, and when is it?

It is held every 22 July: decorated boats sail to the islet of Our Lady of the Rocks and stones are thrown into the sea, which according to the tourist organisation keeps the islet stable. The tradition is tied to the legend of 1452.

How far is Perast from Kotor?

14.3 km, about 24 minutes by car, according to our routing estimate without traffic. In the Bay of Kotor, Risan is 3.7 km away (about 7 minutes) and the Roman mosaics there cost €6.

Is there parking in Perast?

We could not confirm it: no official source we read gives parking places or prices for Perast, so check on arrival.
